Financial support in the form of scholarships and bursaries can provide much-needed assistance during your studies. They can help pay tuition fees, purchase textbooks and equipment, and meet accommodation and other general living expenses.

Commonwealth Scholarships

The Commonwealth Scholarships Program (formally known as the Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS) Program) was introduced in 2004 to assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those from rural and regional areas and Indigenous students, with costs associated with higher education. To be eligible applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas.

Scholarships and awards - Education Queensland

The Department of Education and Training offers scholarships to school leavers, post-graduate students, departmental employees and employees in the early childhood education and care sector. Some scholarships are also available to post-school applicants.

TAFE and university students, between the ages of 18 and 25, had an opportunity to test and develop their creativity, innovation, teamwork and leadership skills on the Sunshine Coast recently. The 2010 winner, Jenna Waters, won prizes including mentoring and an internship valued at up to $7,000.

Queensland Overseas Foundation scholarships

The Queensland Overseas Foundation is offering four scholarships up to $7000 to former apprentices, trainees or vocational students to support travel to a country of their choice to work or undertake further training in their field.

The WorldSkills International competitions bring together the best and brightest apprentices from around the world to display their talents and compete in this prestigious competition.

Mick Young Scholarships Trust

TAFE Queensland already has some affiliated institutes with this Trust, may be worth contacting them to become affiliated. This scholarship is for recipients who are financial disadvantaged but have the motivation and commitment to further their education.

 

Royal College of Nursing Australia

 

This organisation has nursing scholarships for undergraduates and TAFE scholarships.
