Certificate III in Nutrition and Dietetic Assistance at Sunshine Coast TAFE

You can now get recognised for your existing work and up skill to a Certificate III in Nutrition and Dietetic Assistance at Sunshine Coast TAFE.

 

We all know how important good nutrition is to our overall health and is a key aspect to providing an exceptional level of quality patient care. This qualification will advance your skills and knowledge in nutrition and help you to meet and exceed the needs of your patients and clients through nutrition and dietetic support.

 

This program is delivered flexibly, combining orientation workshops, phone tutorials, workbooks and online delivery, as well as vocational placement which can even be done with your existing employer*. There will be weekly phone tutorial assistance available and these will be voluntary depending on your individual needs. You are also able to contact the teacher direct for assistance during scheduled support times.

 

It’s never been easier to up skill and increase your knowledge in the important nutrition and dietetics area. Not only will you benefit, your patients and clients will too!

 

There are no formal entry requirements for this program.

Additional information

Work placement:

This course requires observation and assessment within a food service and food preparation environment with access to a dietician and meals and menus within a healthcare/aged care setting.

 

Important:

If you are not currently working within a foodservice, healthcare setting, you will be required to undertake some work placement in an appropriate work environment to meet the assessment requirements.
Note: It is the responsibility of the student to discuss vocational/work placement before enrolling in the course with the teacher Jacki Harle before enrolling in the course. 40 hours of work placement is required and will need to be completed for successful completion of the course. The course will take approximately 12 months part-time.

Some of the skills which must be observed by a dietician include (but are not limited to):
• Working in a healthcare setting
• Working in a food preparation area (with access to a food safety program/records/temperature monitoring
• Participate in OH&S and infection control practices in a healthcare setting
• Provide assistance to nutrition and dietetic services
• Support food services in menu and meal order processing
